Sightseeing Guide

The Tsugaru Region is one of Japan's best kept secrets and one of the few remaining places where one can experience the "real Japan." Located in Aomori Prefecture on the northernmost tip of Japan’s main island of Honshu, the area is well known throughout the country for its harsh winters and unique local dialect.

Each season in Tsugaru is distinct, with spring and fall revealing two completely different cycles of the rice fields of the Tsugaru Plain. Summer is highlighted by the unforgettable drums, dancing, and floats of the Nebuta festivals. Winter blankets the region in a pristine layer of white and has its own unique festivals, while giving the adventurous plenty of powder to ski or snowboard in.
